Tc99m MDP (phosphate) 3-phase bone scan:: sensitive but low specificity for osteomylitis
Ga-67: discordant uptake in terms of either intensity or distribution (Ga-67>Tc-99m MDP) characterizes infection. more specific then Tc99m MDP 3-phase bone scan.
wbc (Indium or Tc99m-HMPAO tagged):: better sensitivity and specificity for detecting low grade musculoskeletal infections then (Ga-67/Tc-99m MDP). may be done with Tc-99m MDP bone scan to distinguishes bone from soft tissue uptake or with a sulfur colloid (Tc-99m) scan (normal leukocyte pool (RES system: spleen, liver, marrow)).
